Last night, I was tasting for tacos! I’ve been wanting to try a new margarita recipe as well, so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity.
Just know that this cocktail recipe is the perfect spicy mix, but it does take some time to prepare. It’s not a shake and go cocktail, but SO worth the effort and time!
I so want to try switching out the blackberries for another fruit to try! I can see this being a staple in my cocktail rotation.
Here is what you need:
- 3/4 cup tequila
- 1/2 cup triple sec
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1 cup blackberry syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh or frozen backberries
- 2 jalapeno peppers
- Garnishes: lime wedges, blackberries, jalapenos
- Fine mesh strainer
First you will need to make the syrup. Combine the sugar and water in a small pot and bring to a boil. While you are waiting for this, chop the two jalapenos and place into a food processor to create minced jalapenos. Once your water/sugar mixture has begun to boil, place into a blender with the minced jalapenos and blackberries. Blend until smooth. Pour through a find mesh strainer and place in an airtight container. I placed mine in a mason jar.
Next, rim 4 glasses with a lime wedge and dip into salt. Fill the glasses with ice.
Fill a cocktail shaker with the tequila, triple sec, lime juice, 1 cup of the blackberry syrup and a handful of ice. Shake. Strain into the glasses. Garnish with blackberries, lime wedges and jalapenos!
Enjoy! Thanks to Heather Cristo for the margarita inspiration 🙂
